What is an Intraocular Lens?

An intraocular lens (IOL) is an artificial lens that is implanted into the eye during cataract surgery. The intraocular lens acts as a replacement for the eye’s natural lens (or cloudy lens) which is removed during the surgery.

At Swagel Wootton Eye Institute, we specialize in advanced cataract treatments and the latest lens technology. During your consultation, our team will walk you through the different IOL options so you can choose the one that best fits your lifestyle and vision needs.
